Our mission is to change the way the world communicates. Our vision is one of a high speed high capacity Internet connecting billions of people and devices around the globe for commerce, information, and entertainment at reduced costs of deployment. Before anyone can realize this vision, technological advances must find their way into networking systems faster than ever before. Our mission is to engineer, manufacture and market internetworking systems for our carrier customers that reduce the cost factor of deploying, managing, and growing transport networks by an order of magnitude while delivering a new software operating platform for rapid, new service creation.

Why do we care? With the continued growth of broadband access, mobile Internet, and emerging Web applications, bandwidth will continue to be supply-constrained. There may be plenty of fiber and coax in the ground, but very little of the fiber-optic cables are "lit"  and current coaxial reach limitations result in relatively low amounts of usable bandwidth. Our products are engineered to turn that raw capacity into the maximum usable bandwidth at the lowest possible cost per managed bit.

Bandwidth usage is price-elastic. For every 1 percent drop in price, demand grows by an estimated 3 percent. With today's first- and second-generation networking products, carriers cannot afford to profitably meet this demand. As a result, bandwidth will continue to be supply-constrained. Pricing for connectivity and services will remain artificially high. Less than a third of the world's population has access to basic telephone services. Even fewer people will have affordable access to high-speed access, mobile Internet or emerging Web applications. Commerce, information, and entertainment industries will suffer. Global economies will suffer. Everyone is impacted.
