Luxcore Appoints Industry Leading Researcher as Chief Scientist

Dr. Charles Brown brings nearly two decades of experience in breakthrough optical technology to Atlanta-based Optical Internetworking company.

ATLANTA, February 1, 2001 - Luxcore Networks Inc., a leading developer of optical internetworking systems, today announced the appointment of Dr. Charles Brown as chief scientist. Dr. Brown has 19 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, 18 of them with Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies. Most recently, he was a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff, Bell Labs

This appointment is part of an on-going commitment by Luxcore to bringing leading edge optical researchers into the Company to provide it with breakthrough technologies. Dr. Brown joins four other notable Ph. D researchers whose mission it is to migrate laboratory research into commercial innovations. Building on the strength of its optical intellectual property, Luxcore is bringing to market the world's first photonic router, the next generation of all-optical switching and transmission technology. Luxcore's products will change the way the world communicates by delivering waves of bandwidth to consumers at the lowest industry cost per bit.

"The optical networking industry has an abundance of companies touting quasi-optical answers to today's network problems. I saw that first-hand when I spoke with other start-ups in this space," said Dr. Brown. "Luxcore's intellectual property and industry expertise clearly position it to be first to market with true optical internetworking. Add to that such a prestigious group of scientists and engineers, and Luxcore will truly 'Bring the Internet to Light.'"

"It is an honor to have Dr. Brown join Luxcore's team of scientists and engineers that are redefining the optical networking space through the development of true optical internetworking solutions," said Gerald Ramdeen, founder and chief executive officer of Luxcore. "As we work toward demonstrating our product at the Optical Fiber Conference in March, he will play a critical role in ensuring that Luxcore's technology is not only cutting-edge, but scalable and deployable."
